Bieken Nazaerbieken had a strong ride today on stage three of the Tour of China part 2, riding to 24th position on a hard stage that saw many large time gaps at the finish line and a change to the overall classification.

The hard stage was eventually won by Kevin River (ANS) with the rest of the peloton arriving one-by-one across the finish line. The Mitchelton-BikeExchange rider fought on to finish the stage one-minute 54seconds down on the winner and now sits in 24th place overall with one-day remaining.

Andrew Smith – Sport Director
“It was a good ride by Bieken today, but probably not the result he or the team was looking for. The team tried to support him well too on some twisty technical roads.

“It was also a good ride by Hao Ran too, showing he still has lots of potential at a young age, performing better than expected on a terrain not suited to him.”
