Kiwi James Oram rounded off the Tour of Quanzhou Bay with a top 10 finish on the final stage to claim ninth overall.

The 26-year-old was in the mix in the finale and launched an attack in the uphill sprint to the line but found himself boxed in against the barriers. With his momentum lost, the New Zealander regrouped to take ninth on the stage behind a small group that contested the finish.

Local rider Yikui Niu was 21st overall on the general classification and took the runner-up spot in the Chinese Rider Classification as the team now focus on the upcoming Tour of Fuzhou next weekend.

James Oram:
“I wasn’t sure how the legs would be, but the climb to the finish really suited me. I tried to attack at 300 to go but got I boxed against the barriers and lost my momentum. Hopefully I can perform better in the Tour of Fuzhou next week.”
