Chinese-registered Continental team Mitchelton-Bike-Exchange will open their 2019 campaign at the Tour de Langkawi from this Saturday following a productive camp in Hainan over the last few weeks.
Without a pure sprinter, the outfit will target stage results through breakaway efforts and following the Queen stage on day four can make decisions on general classification and best Asian rider competitions for the second half of the race.

• CHAVES Brayan (COL, 21)
• HAO Ran (CHN, 21)
• LIU Jiankun (CHN, 23)
• NIU Yikui (CHN, 24)
• ORAM James (NZL, 25)
Dave Sanders – Sport Director:
“We’re come off a really productive camp where we’ve been able to top up fitness levels and evaluate where each rider is at in the development and evaluate team roles.
“We don’t have a specific sprinter of the international level to be competitive at Langkawi, so we will look to make an impact on the race through breakaway efforts.
“New rider James Oram is also climbing very well so we believe we can be competitive in the general classification. The Queen stage arrives on stage four, so it gives us the opportunity to asses and make tactical decisions from there on.
“Langkawi will be our first competition of the season. Following on from the camp, it’ll also provide another good opportunity to ground and bond the team for the upcoming races throughout the year.”
